Survivor Artist Kick-Off May 30
The annual Survivor/Artist Kick-Off for the Rare Chair Affair is tonight at the Medical College of Wisconsin for a new “class” of artists supporting the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition. Our artists will spend the summer together talking, designing, and painting unique works of art for the event this fall.
The 18th Annual Rare Chair Affair, “Wisconsin Cares”, is will begin at 5:30 pm (dinner at 7pm) on Friday, Oct. 6, at the Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront (just off of I-43 at the Hampton Street exit). Online registration will open by later this summer, but space is limited, so plan to register early.
Along with some special treats in store for our artists this year, we’re planning a few community-building events and of course another great Wrap Party in September.
We appreciate our sponsor RFP Commercial for providing studio space for us this year and Antiques on Pierce for donating chairs.
We have space for more artists if anyone is interested, and we’re also looking for donated chairs (good quality, solid wood, unusual designs are best.) Please contact us at email@example.com if you are interested.

“Live Beautifully” 17th Annual Rare Chair Affair
MILWAUKEE, WI — Unique works of art arising from the reflections of breast cancer survivors in Wisconsin will be highlighted at the 17th Annual Rare Chair Affair — Live Beautifully on Friday, September 30, 2016, hosted by the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition. These artists are painting chairs and other items for a moving live auction in the Milwaukee area, an event that will also honor long-time Survivor Artist Pat Skowronski.
More than 115 survivors have been Rare Chair Affair artists since 2000. For many of them, their creative experience over the summer, leading up to Rare Chair Affair, is a healing one. Their art speaks to their journeys, inspires guests, and helps raise much needed funds to support the work of the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition (WBCC).
Rare Chair Affair will be held at the Wisconsin Club at 6200 W. Good Hope Rd, Milwaukee. Registration and the Silent Auction open at 5:30pm, followed by fantastic food stations and the main event — the live auction of the Survivor Artist chairs.
Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.rarechairaffair.org.
Since 1994, the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition has been standing up and speaking out about breast cancer. Through education and collaboration, we work to ensure that legislation and policies serve individuals and families facing breast cancer. We complement other breast cancer organizations by prioritizing policy change, prevention of breast cancer and metastatic breast cancer concerns. Through the breast cancer spectrum — from prevention and risk reduction, through appropriate funding for breast cancer research, to access to screening and treatment and survivor care — the WBCC works to end to the disease.
