I’m a veteran breast cancer survivor, battling this beast since 1993. During that time I’ve experienced the gamut of treatments – several times. The war with this disease not only takes a toll physically but also psychologically. So the one way I have found to fight back at it is to aid in the quest to raise funds for the alleviation of it. My participation with the Rare Chair Affair has afforded me an opportunity to do just that the last 7 years.
I wanted to create a chair this year that celebrates my two grandsons — NICKY AND JOEY.
I purchased the decoupage material earlier in the year with the intent to use it on a chair for the Rare Chair Affair. Unfortunately, I didn’t have an appropriate children’s chair until one was donated by Ellen Vander Heyden. Then my sister Elizabeth discovered the incredible coordinating fabric, which shares the same retro feel and color palette. I’m hopeful this highchair will find its way into the home of a nostalgic grand mother of the home of some retro-appreciative young parents.
